Costs for Faecal Source Tracking Assays

Where there are cost savings related to the batching of samples, this can be arranged with ESR so that individual samples may be batched with those of other clients. This system works well when time factors are not the major concern.

Molecular markers

$250+GST for DNA extraction and PCR analysis of up to three markers

Additional PCR markers by Application

FWA analysis

HPLC FWA analysis: $350+GST for the first sample, $100+GST for each subsequent sample in the same batch

Faecal sterol analysis

The analysis provides quantitative results and ratio analysis for 10 different sterols (minimum of three samples). Samples can be filtered, and filters stored frozen, until a decision is made whether faecal sterol testing is required.

• $450 + GST per sample if ESR is sent the water for filtering,
• $375 + GST per sample if an external laboratory performs the filtering. Advice on filtering is provided on Sample collection and storage

Obviously, filters are much cheaper to courier, and potentially easier all round than sending 2-4 litres of water
